Today, we are experiencing a state of chaos in our inner and outer worlds - distancing ourselves from wholeness. It is my devoted purpose to educate and guide others on this path through my seminars, workshops and healing gatherings. In my work, I draw on India's ancient philosophies as well as Ayurveda's veneration and study of plants. At the same time, I have begun incorporating the sacred herbs and traditions of the Native American cultures on a conscious path to uniting East and West.
The logic of Ayurveda - similar to that of the Native American- is based on a holistic approach - a knowledge and awareness that man is interdependent with all forms of life and that it is man's responsibility to maintain nature's equilibrium. Man's spiritual health is dependent upon his ability to live in harmony with the external universe. His mental health depends on his ability to live in harmony with himself.
The physicians of ancient India identified the nature of human suffering as being physical, mental and spiritual. Their conclusion as to how such suffering could be healed was called Ayurveda, or, "Knowledge of Life". This fundamental philosophy, maintains that suffering is disease and that contentment is good health. For a man to be truly healthy, he must posses a sound body, mind and spirit.
The goal of Ayurveda is rejuvenation -"to become young again". Once this is accomplished and thus health and wholeness achieved, the human being is free to pursue the true goal of life - increasing their conscious awareness of the Divine - the principle of Life itself.
To achieve this, Ayurvedic practitioners used aromatics, nutrition and cosmetics to calm the mind - to reinforce its own balance - and to strengthen the immune system. Once this was accomplished, good health became the best form of protection from disease. The majority of medicines used are plant based causing fewer side effects than the synthetic drugs of Western allopathic medicine.
In my seminars, I attempt to
teach these practices and principles by showing the importance
of discipline in tradition and ritual undertaken consciously every
day. An integral part of these daily rituals is the understanding
and proper use of essential oils as a therapeutic medium. In Ayurveda
we strive to maintain a heightened energy field and to integrate
body, mind and spirit. This is facilitated by performing certain
simple but nonetheless powerful procedures daily including foot
baths, oil baths, marma point rejuvenation, reflexology, subtle
energy healing and cleansing. By dutifully following these humble
ancient practices, we can begin to experience a wholeness and
happiness that radiates from our being.
